On July 19, 2022, I was honored and privileged to serve with Bishop Larry Silva at the Blessing of the Hawai‘i Catholic Charities - Maui dedication of the Kahului Lani affordable Rental Development for Seniors. Catholic Charities Hawai‘i - Maui has been Christ like by providing and preparing a place for Senior Affordable Housing at Kahului Lani. This project provides low-income Seniors affordable living options with amenities to fulfill their needs. Kahului Lani is managed by Hale Mahaolu, Ashley Kiaha, Manager. As of this date Kahului Lani is full of Senior tenants. There are Filipinos, Hawaiians, a large group of Caucasians and other ethnic groups. This project was funded by our Federal, State and County Governments and coordinated by Hawai‘i Catholic Charities - Maui Director Thelma-Akita Kealoha. Thank God for Hawai‘i Catholic Charities -Maui for their assistance in making this a reality for our Senior Citizens on Maui!

Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God, have faith also in me. In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back again and take you to myself, so that where I am you also may be. Where I am going you know the way.” Thomas said to him, “Master, we do not know where you are going; how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14: 1–6

With open Hearts and full of Love, with all the troubles and issues we have in this world, Hawai‘i Catholic Charities - Maui came forward to build a Senior Affordable Housing Project called Kahului Lani. It is a blessing! 165 units available for Seniors. This is what Faith and Hope can do. Have Faith in God and he will provide many dwelling places who are in need. In today’s world it’s hard to trust in anything. We need to put God in our Life. How do we do this? By loving one another as He loves us! In struggles, mistrust, unfaithfulness, He will not abandon us. For He cannot and will not abandon Himself! We pray, Lord at times when we lose our ways to Your heart and journey in different directions You always bring us back to our paths and guide us to the truth and life. Thank you, Lord, for providing a place in our Father’s house and being one in You. We pray also to not lose hope, to continue to trust in God for good or bad things in our life. These are things that will help us in good times and bad. All our Catholic Churches are open to helping our Seniors at Kahului Lani.

Jesus, I trust in You. Amen!
