University of Hawai‘i Maui College Kabatak Club
With the start of the semester in August, UHMC Kabatak Club has been busy recruiting new members. One of the recruiting tactics was to demonstrate Tinikling on campus. Led by president Diether Dadiz and Vice President Jenelyn Santos, Kabatak meets weekly on Wednesdays at 3 p.m., primarily in Ka Lama 103.
Kabatak is planning for a variety of activities this year including fundraising for Fil-Grad, a graduation ceremony for Filipino Americans, honoring those with Filipino roots, many of whom may be the first in their family to graduate from college. Kabatak also regularly volunteers for the Binhi at Ani Bayanihan Feeding Program.
