Google Is Not Everything

Chapter 2025

Angel Alba | Maui High School, Class of 2026

The 2024 season comes to an end and with that, a new journey waits for us in the new year. New Year’s Day marks the beginning of the year when people start on a New Year’s resolution. Before individuals adventure into the new year, they decide on a New Year’s resolution they wish to achieve. Resolutions are often repeated over the years when they are not accomplished, even though they have, they choose to reach that same goal. Countless memorable memories were made in 2024, as the year 2025 begins more myriad memories will be added to the chapter.

Chastity Kaye Agustin

Jumping back to 2024, Chastity Kaye Agustin, a Maui High School student, shares her favorite memory. Chastity wishes to relive that exciting moment, as it was the time she had felt cheery and carefree to see family members she hadn’t seen for a while. Looking forward to her 2025 journey, she wishes to focus on herself and become more productive. For Chastity to fulfill these wishes, she sets a New Year’s resolution to “have a positive mindset all year long,” she says. Having a negative mindset would bring her down, but with her confidence and dignity, she strives to reach that goal.

Trisha Mariz Basig

As for Trisha Mariz Basig, a Baldwin High School student, she sets a goal to obtain her driver’s license and continue to save more money for future use. On Trisha’s journey to 2025, she looks forward to improving herself. She finds a path to be free of herself and lets her worries go to become a better version of herself for the new year. A recap Trisha wishes to share from 2024 was the special memory she had for “helping out the Filipino community through Binhi at Ani and the experience of running for Miss Barrio Fiesta,” she says. Trisha played a role in helping and sharing the love she has for her community when she ran for Miss Barrio Fiesta in 2024.

Charis May Palalay

A student at Maui High School, Charis May Palalay, looks back on the special memories she and her family spent throughout 2024, as well as the thrilling moments she had with her friends. Every second she spent with them was a precious moment of her time, it is her favorite memory of 2024, she confesses. As Charis sets forth a new chapter, she looks forward to the exciting opportunities given to her this year. To start her year, she says “My New Year’s resolution is to procrastinate less.” She looks forward to having a clear path in her journey without having any obstacles in her way, doing so, she plans to follow her resolution to avoid procrastinating and focus on what is ahead.

Although the year 2024 had its ups and downs and impacted individuals in certain ways, what matters is the countless wonderful, memorable memories created with friends and families. Everyone has that singular moment they wish to go back to. For me, I wish to go back to the time when I traveled back to the motherland, to see and spend quality time with friends and families. Even though it was for a short amount of time, I treasure the moments I had with them. Time is precious and it is important to cherish the special memories that were created in the past because there is no going back.
